4 Flowers to Avoid When you have Cats

Flowers that are Toxic to Cats

What with Valentine's Day just around the corner you may be treating yourself or someone else to some blooms, I know I will! However there are some flowers which are not Feline Friendly...

  • Lillies - these beauties and their pollen are toxic to Cats particularly those of the Hemerocallis or Lilium variety so be sure to keep them well out of reach from curious little noses.
  • Poinsettias - not lethal but bound to make your cat feel pretty ropey should they take a bite and none of us want that.
  • Tulips - again, if eaten by your lovely puss these very Dutch flowers will cause upset cat tummies.
  • Peonies - oh I love these flowers but if you have a curious cat who is partial to a significant nibble then place them well out of reach.

Flowers that are Cat Friendly include:

  • Roses
  • Orchids
  • Gerbera Daisies and
  • Sunflowers.

If your cat does take a risk with one of their nine lives, call your vet immediately as they can help minimise the risks speedily and get your kitty feeling purrfect once more.

And of course you can treat your Cat to a unique, handmade to order knitted Cat Bow Tie or collar accessory and keep the flowers for yourself....
